Process and Production Engineer

We are looking for a  Process and Production Engineer to join our team immediately.

Hours:            40 h/week

Starting date:   Autumn 2024

Workplace:        Buxtehude, partly Hamburg

Your Role

As a member of Lignopure, you will be part of an international, fast-paced and expanded team. The production engineer at Lignopure will be instrumental in the successful production of our innovative and sustainable product LignoBase. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and working closely with the engineering team, this role involves close collaboration with the founders and key stakeholders. You will ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes, contributing significantly to the operational success and overall sustainability goals of the company.

Your development at Lignopure:

  • Actively participate in the development of new technologies related to lignin transformation processes.

  • Be part of the execution of Research & Development (R&D) projects aimed at novel processes and technology optimizations.

  • You will receive access to specialized training on safety related topics like first aider or trained fire protector.

  • Be instrumental in drive the scale-up of new technologies from pilot to commercial-scale production.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the production of LignoBase adheres to the company’s quality standards and meets customer demands.

  • Oversee production campaigns and maintain detailed records of process and batch quality data in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Control the quality of raw materials, intermediate and finished products.

  • Ensure the reliability and efficiency of production equipment and processes.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any production or process-related issues to maintain optimal operational performance.

  • With our principles of continuous improvement, you will stay updated on industry trends and advancements to incorporate cutting edge technologies and methodologies into the production process.

  • Follow and foment best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and production processes.

  • Report regularly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on production performance, process improvements, and project progress.

  • Product filling, packaging, labeling, storage management and order back-office activities

  • Implementation and control of the necessary safety measures related to the core technology and the overall processing of our products according to internal SOPs

  • Execution and optimization of SOPs related to production

  • Direct communication with contractors related to the lignin manufacturing, downstream processing, and analytics.

  • Student and lab personnel supervision

     Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree in (bio-)process or mechanical engineering, biotechnology or similar

  • Excitement for process design, scale-up and operation

  • Very good understanding of process design, working principles and optimization

  • High degree of reliability with regards to product quality and process safety

  • Strong skills in data management, MS Excel as well as other MS Office products are required

  • Prior experience, especially in drying technologies, particle engineering, biobased materials. Hygienic processing, is a big plus, but not a must

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize appropriately and effectively

  • Good communicational skills in German and English (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders

  • Hands-on and team player mentality as well as willingness to achieve goals collaboratively

  • Open minded and willing to learn in a fast-paced startup environment
