To combat climate change and contribute to the energy transition, I have been working for some time on the possibility of storing electrical energy in the form of liquid air and releasing it again when needed. In 2017 alone, 5.5 TWh of electricity from renewable energy sources was not used because there was no energy storage to buffer the excess capacity and release it again in times of lower energy production. I want to address this unused potential and develop an energy storage system that makes a real contribution to the energy transition without the use of rare earths, with a high number of possible charging and discharging cycles and a location-independent application.
About me: I am 30 years old and did my bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering at TU Darmstadt with a focus on energy systems and thermodynamics. Since 2.5 years I am working as a mechanical engineer in Hamburg. I am open minded, communicative and enjoy working in a team. In my free time, I do a lot of sports (bouldering, kiteboarding, running, etc.) and enjoy the end of the day with friends while sitting together in a relaxed atmosphere. I like to take responsibility and during my time as a member of a student contact fair team at university, my team leader described me as a good-humoured colleague with a sled-dog-mentality, which made me very happy and I think also describes me quite well.
Together with you, I want to found a company that fights climate change and is aware of its social and ecological responsibility. A company in which the employees and their personal and professional development are in the foreground and not profit maximisation at any price. A company where people have fun and enjoy working on meaningful and future-oriented tasks and make the world a little bit better. At the same time, enjoying their free time with hobbies and friends because they are given the freedom to do so.
In order to combat climate change and successfully shape the energy transition, possibilities for sustainable energy storage are needed. In 2022 alone, 5.8 TWh of generated energy could not be fed into the grid due to a lack of suitable storage options. This is where we want to start and develop an energy storage system that can temporarily store electrical energy in liquid air and release it again when needed, without the use of rare earths, with a high number of possible charging and discharging cycles as well as a location-independent application option.
We want to tackle this exciting task together with you in a company where you, as an employee together with the project are at the centre.
