The nextMedia.Hamburg support initiative, part of Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, launched their Investment Circle on 1 July. Its aim is to connect startups with investors in order to facilitate follow-on funding after support programmes have concluded. Startups in the tech and media sectors can register for the investment network with immediate effect.

The Investment Circle aims to bridge funding gaps

With a turnover of around 210 billion euros in 2024 and around two million people in employment, the creative industries are among Germany’s key growth sectors. At the same time, its access to private equity capital has so far remained limited. Many promising startups often fail due to huge funding gaps. To close these, a new investment network is being established in Hamburg. The aim is to bring private investors together with growth-oriented founders and to strengthen the exchange between them. The initiative will begin with startups from the media and digital sectors. In future, young companies from other segments of the creative industries will also be included.

The exchange is organised via the Dealum deal flow platform. Once the startups have registered via this link, interested investors can enter into direct negotiations. They decide whether to contact a startup based on their individual interests. Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft does not invest itself and does not make any investment recommendations. Interested investors can contact Dr Nina Klaß or Bruno Marks at nextMedia.Hamburg if they have any questions.

“We have already supported more than 40 startups through our Media Lift funding programme. We advise startups, provide them with office space, put them in the spotlight, connect them with corporations, and give them access to initial financing and funding opportunities. But for sustainable growth, startups need more—they need capital and the right investors. With the launch of the investment network, we have now taken the first step.”
