Logistics and aviation combine drone expertise in Hamburg
With the launch of the new LogIsInTheAir project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the two clusters Logistics Initiative Hamburg and Hamburg Aviation are starting a cross-sector initiative. Its aim is to support companies in identifying potential applications for drones and airborne transport services and to connect the players with each other.
LogIsInTheAir aims at creating cross-sector cooperations
Logistik-Initiative Hamburg (LIHH) and Hamburg Aviation (HAv), represented by the Windrove drone network, are working on connecting the logistics and aviation industries with this project, which is funded with around 1.1 million euros and will run until 31 March 2028. The long-term goal is to form so-called cluster bridges (connections between companies in two clusters) and thus strengthen cross-sector cooperation. The first step is to analyse demand and supply, on the basis of which potential drone providers and users will be identified and brought together in a targeted manner. Interested companies will then be enabled to test and establish innovative methods of using drones for transport and other applications.
At the same time, a project-related knowledge database is being created to bundle information on technologies and fields of application and make it available in the long term. The project draws on the existing infrastructure and expertise of the participating clusters and is guided by relevant urban strategies and development plans. Hamburg will receive a total of around 65 million euros from the ERDF for digital and green transformation in the 2021 to 2027 funding period. As the latest ERDF-funded project in which cluster bridges are being implemented, LogIsInTheAir broadens the range of topics and complements the ongoing cluster bridge projects KLIMAready and TALENTready.
