Algeciras, located in southern Spain near Gibraltar, is the first city in the country to digitise truck handling at its port. The Truck Appointment System (TAS) used for this purpose was developed by the Hamburg-based startup passify, which has thus reached an important milestone in its internationalisation.
passify has already proven itself in Hamburg
passify was founded as a spin-off of HHLA Next, the venture building unit of network logistics provider HHLA. The startup's truck planning app has been in use at the Port of Hamburg since December 2024. With the TAS, which passify is now introducing together with terminal operator TTI Algeciras, transport companies can book appointments per truck, which are automatically validated upon arrival. Bookings are made conveniently via the passify platform and are valid for a specific time slot. Existing transport orders for pick-ups or deliveries remain unchanged; only the appointments are now booked digitally. This reduces waiting times, prevents congestion and makes planning easier for drivers.
The platform also offers flexible settings for the maximum number of lorries per hour, tolerances for early and late deliveries, and priority and private slots. Real-time dashboards, quality ratings and reports on punctuality, cancellations and peak times ensure complete transparency and support the continuous optimisation of processes. This allows transport companies to maintain an overview at all times and use their resources efficiently.
