The Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft with their initiative Gamecity Hamburg is launching another round of funding for prototypes. Startups and small and medium-sized enterprises can apply until 24 September. A total of up to 180,000 euros is available for the development of digital games.

How the application process works?
Developers and developer communities, or small and medium-sized enterprises, who are based in Hamburg, who intend to relocate their headquarters to Hamburg or open a branch or permanent establishment in Hamburg, are eligible to apply for the prototype funding programme. The funding is non-repayable and is awarded up to a maximum of 80,000 euros and up to 80 per cent of the total costs. The decision on which projects are awarded funding is made by an allocation committee comprising industry experts.
A consultation with Gamecity Hamburg is mandatory prior to applying, in order to prepare applicants as well as possible for the process. The following information is required when booking an appointment via email to funding@gamecity-hamburg.de:
Brief project outline (maximum half a page of text or one slide)
The amount of funding sought for the project and details of how the own contribution is to be provided
Information on whether generative AI should be used
Specific questions regarding the application process / funding for the project
The full application documents, including the pitch deck, should only be prepared after the consultation and then submitted in good time.
